After I replaced the belt I tried to start it without any thing else on (the radiator ,belts, pulleysfans ect.) I wonder if that has something to do with it

  1. NO  NO   YOUR   SPARK PLUG WIRES HAVE  GOTIN TO HOT AN MELTED  TOGTHER.    I  SEE THEM  FROM  HERE ,,,,

  2. What else did you take loose to get the work done?  Any battery cables, ignition wires, anything like that?  EFI connectors?  If any part of that thing is unplugged, nothing happens.

Are you sure that neither you nor anyone else has turned the camshafts or anything else while the belt was off?  Turn the distributor shaft 180 degrees and it still looks right, but nothing happens - sparking during the exhaust stroke = parked.

  3. you say you replaced the timing belt?. what about the cam gear, did it turn, when you were putting the belt on?, they will move some when your installing the belt, thats what the guage hole is for. take the belt back off, alighn the crank at top dead center, turn the cam gear to the guage hole and put something like a drill bit in the hole(that will keep the cam from turning), now put the belt on and tighten the tensioner. dont forget to take the bit back out.

  4. Here is a procedure, go thru it and see if you missed anything!http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us/090...

    Good Luck!

  5. yes, check that ground wire. Im assuming you want to check yourself before putting everything back. So, put a socket on the crankshaft bolt, and spin the engine, it should tighten up, and then release. If you try to turn it, and will not move, you do have a timing issue, just try again, you can do it.  Ps dont forget to whiggle the timing belt on both sides it should feel nice and tight, but still able to move just a little.

  6. Question, did you set the marks on a compression or exhaust stroke? If you spin the motor, do you have any compression? Does this motor use crank a crank angle sensor? If so was the harmonic balance on when you tried to start it? Go back to the beginning and recheck all your steps, you have to have to missed something.
