I just upgraded my old 1gb(2x512) RAM with 2gb(2x1gb) RAM, when i first put the new ram in my computer beeped at me. I made sure it was all in tight enough and tried again, still beeped at me. So I took out the new and placed the old back in. This worked fine so i tried the new again (hoping it would produce a positive result). This time, it didn't beep and everything powered on except for the monitors. Please help!

  1. Sounds like your motherboard doesn't support the type or size of memory you have installed.

Did you verify that your motherboard could support this type of memory before purchasing it?

Put the old memory back in and then go to crucial's website and run their system scanner and it will tell you what type and size memory your motherboard can support.

By the way, you don't have to buy their brand, just the type it list.
