I replaced the terminals on my battery, not sure if the cables are hooked up right?

My car died about a week ago, and I got it towed to my house because the tow truck driver was able to jump my car, and said that my terminals were corroded too much and they should be replaced. So I did that, I have the marine style cables that connect to the top of the terminal and bolted down, like this picture http://www.batteriesareus.com/images/battery terminal - Top post to marine stud bolt.JPG

And I tried to start it and I think either the battery is dead or the cables aren't on right. neg. has 2 and positive has the 3 that need to be connected, but is there an specific order I should bolt them on?

  1. First corroded or not he could have jump started it unless there was something else wrong you didn't mention. Second your link didn't work so I didn't see your picture. Last yes connect the positive first the the negative.

  2. If you connected the cables properly and your battery is good, the vehicle should have started right away. If you didn't do it right, though, if you have a computer controlled vehicle, you could fry fusible links, or worse, your computer. My suggestion is to get the car towed to a good shop in your area, and ask them to check it out. A bit pricey, yes, but if there is a question on cables being right, it would be worth it for peace of mind alone.

    Good luck

  3. might be the battery do you have a volt/ohm meter to check it with or you can take the battery to auto zone type store and they will check it for you free

  4. Couldnt see the pic, but the order does not matter. Make sure the terminal is clean, get a pocket knife and scrape the inside till its shiney and do the same to the post. The neg goes to a ground on the frame or engine the pos goes to the solenoid. the order of the acc wires is not important, just make sure they go to the same post you took thm out of. Make sure it is snug
