My son was molested by my cousin 5 yrs ago , I just found out and reported it to the police. When the police contacted him he had a lawyer call the police back and refuse to answer any questions. The detective told me that because there was no physical evidence they couldn't do anything without a confession and it boiled down to one's word against another. My cousin has another complaint on file from a previous marriage for the same thing. I need to know what to do now. It seems the case is dead in the water. Any and all comments appreciated.

  1. You need more than---" one's word against another."

If there is  another complaint on file (or you could look for others who are willing to testify) you could get this into the courts. A witness is needed, even if they are someone that only says,  "He told me about what happened to him."  There's lots of cases like this.  What the detective told you wasn't true.

  2. Some bad stuff happens and can't be fixed

It's not fair or just but maybe for the best, as stirring up past memories is worse for the victim

    Let it go

  3. Yes, you can STILL act.

I found out I was molested as a child, and 10 years later when I was about 12 I took my self to court and came through with it, and won. The person went to jail.

It's possible, your son just needs to have his word in mostly.

  4. Let it go. It could ruin your son's life if a scum newspaper like, The Sun, gets hold of it. They have no morals and will print anything to sell papers.

  5. Without physical evidence there really is little the police can do.  Hopefully the other case will go against him or he will eventually be caught, charged and convicted.  You could try a civil suit where the prrof is by preponderance of the evidence rahter than beyond a reasonable doubt.

  6. These animals do not stop. He probably molested kids before your child  and is still doing it now. If the police are too lazy to investigate, try to find out what kids he has access to, I am sure this is still going on you need to find other kids he has molested or tried to. Check his work, friends, neighbors, any place he has access to kids. The police should have done this but sometimes they are just too lazy or don't care.

  7. I'd wait a long time then hire someone to take him out.

  8. Beat the guy up. Hire a thug, hitman or THE JOKER...

  9. You need to talk to a family attorney or criminal attorney. But probably, if your son doesn't want to press charges, their isn't much you can do, unless your son is still a minor. Then your lawyer would be the one to advise you.

If the molestation is true, there is a very good chance that your cousin also molested other boys. If you ask other family members, you might find more evidence. If there is more than one victim, your son may change is him about testifying.

He is probably embarrassed and doesn't want to relive such a horrible memory. But.... there is strength in numbers.
