  1. First try going to your control panel.  Under 'Add/ Remove Programs', remove the Windows XP Service Pack 1 (make sure the box to show windows updates is checked).

Once that's clean, see if your problem is fixed.  If so, try re-installing SP 1, then SP 2 (SP 3 is optional and they're still working out some bugs).

If that does't work, try to locate your original windows CD.  Put it in and boot from the CD (go to BIOS and change the Boot Order to CD-ROM first).  You can the do a 'Repair' install of windows - which will not erase any of your stuff and will just reinstall the registry and key files.

  2. Jummy Mills is right...

Try installing IE7 this Might fix the issue..  If not

Install XP Home or Pro..   looks like Vista strikes again...   Not a virus

  3. Sounds like a bootsector virus!! Man what have you've been playing in!

  4. switch to ubuntu.  its better, and wont give you **** like that.

  5. Don't listen to the above. you DO NOT need a new computer. i have never seen this before but am guessing the guys at microsoft never checked vista for bugs. this may be one of them. Try running the install disk and run a full repair.

  6. First disable your browser plugins and see if you get the same results. To me it looks as if there is a problem in one of your plugins.

  7. You need a CompuNerd.

  8. yea go to the store and get a new computer or format it and reinstall windows vista

  9. I am sure you will gets lots of different advice, but the best I can offer is to do a complete fresh install of windows, then go to microsoft's website for the updates. That way any bugs you have will be cleaned off your system! If you still have issues after doing this then it will be a hardware issue. But I am sure it's just software related.

    Good luck my friend!

  10. dont listen to any one else this is not yet a virus however it may turn in to a virus if you dont take immideate affect. youu must get free spyware from download.com it is the eaisiest way to protect your computer

  11. I don't think that is a virus.

Attempt to reinstall internet explorer, first reboot then try to reinstall it.

  12. Some folks answering this forum give up to soon and want you to spend your money needlessly!

"Oh, You got a computer problem, just throw it out and buy a new one!"

    Bogus!

Notice it is NOT their money they are spending!!

    Re: Sierra B:

"not yet a virus however it may turn in to a virus" DUH!

Nothing can "turn in to a virus" it is either a virus file or program, or it is not!

Viruses are not self generating out of nothing, or out of even corrupted files!

A virus is purposely written and programed to preform a function, just like any other program!

Wait till you finish your "Computers 101" class.

Go on this website, it has the EXACT reason why it's doing that..

  14. try system file checker

To check your Windows protected files, proceed as follows:

    1/ Click the Start button

2/ From the Start Menu, Click All programs followed by Accessories

3/ In the Accessories menu, Right Click on the Command Prompt option

4/ From the drop down menu that appears, Click on the 'Run as administrator' option

5/ If you have the User Account Control (UAC) enabled you will be asked for authorisation prior to the command prompt opening. You may simply need to press the Continue button if you are the administrator or insert the administrator password etc.

6/ In the Command Prompt window, type: sfc /scannow and then press Enter

7/ A message will appear stating that 'the system scan will begin'

8/ Be patient because the scan may take some time

9/ If any files require replacing SFC will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Vista DVD for this process to continue

10/ If everything is okay you should, after the scan, see the following message "Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations"

11/ After the scan has completed, Close the command prompt window
