Am I okay? If not, WHY? Is it my stupidity to mix up your so-called Great Men with Universally acceted scholars?

  1. Your fine.

  2. Wisdom, truth and word was given to man in the ancient scriptures written in the Vedas etc. Since then many have reiterated in many forms this truth. Man requires guidance in gaining understanding. The greatest Prophets or Philosophers were they who with the eloquence, communication and presence to deliver Gods message in anarchic times of spiritual darkness and aggression against the established modes.

To complete their task they battle with the prevailing demonic elements and prevailing evil they come to destroy. Some are more successful than others. The objective is always to bring peace, unity and love to mankind.

The world remains battling and divided. Recognition of the barriers to this Utopia is met with frenzied resistance by the deviant forces armed with power. That is the journey. Words must be applied and changes manoeuvred. Otherwise words are simply articulate ideals. Transcending all earthly obstacles and divides and inspiring others towards that perfect nirvana is the goal.

  3. It's smart to mix them together because in essence they all taught the same thing.... for example: Socrates said: Know thyself, and Jesus said "Worship in Spirit." Those statements may sound different, but they are a reference to the same thing... becoming familiar with the "I Am." This will explain what I am talking about: http://gospelenigma.com

I think you are right on track. They taught the same thing, but the ignorance of the followers has made their teaching appear different.

  4. i'm assuming that your respect is based on the way i feel about it- all these men, and others, devoted their lives to causes greater than themselves, (though sometimes for themselves), and were meticulous, attentive to all aspects of their culture, displayed their beliefs and observations and findings with intelligence, logic, and held a high place in the minds and hearts of others.  they spent years honing their individual platforms and were able to do something great with little aside from their senses and thoughts.  respecting someone for their accomplishments, especially this list of those men who've lasted, and have had the same weight with subsequent cultures, for centuries, is by no means stupid.  it means you've found an interest, you've looked into it, and even if you might not believe, or agree, with everything, all the time, that they've done, you're a big enough person to realize the merits and sacrifices of each of these men.

  5. What we know of Socrates is what Plato told us.  What we know of Jesus is what four apostles and St. Paul told us.  What we know of Muhammad is what the clerics of his time decided to let us know.

So we mainly know about these people from people that admired them for whatever reason.  And because of that admiration they had an amplification of their messages on the world.  Greatness is of at least two types.  The number of people effected and the importance or significance of their message.

I'll leave it to you to decide for yourself what is great about any of the names you listed or others.  What you consider great is the direction you will move in, but, and you have to be careful here, that doesn't mean it is great to anyone else.

  6. All of these people have contributed greatly to society. I do not think it is wrong. You may do as you wish! ^_^

  7. its fine . u got the free will to belive anything u want

  8. There is not a single thing wrong with granting respect to great minds, religious figures, your mother (just an example)...

Granting respect to someone means that you find value in their teachings.

Yes, you're fine...perhaps more so than others who refuse to see the validity of respecting whom-so-ever is worthy of it in your own estimation. The opposite of this would be called bias/prejudice based on inconsequentials..

  9. I respect all men regardless of being great or not. Common sense usually comes from common people.

  10. It is okay to respect great mean like Plato, Socrates, and Muhammad. Why wouldn't it be? They helped shape philosophy, and teachers still teach their lessons; even to this day.

You can respect so-called "great men" with University accepted scholars if you want to. But you don't have to.
