  1. yup. plenty for fitness.

  2. yeah that is perfectly all right but if u get permission then u should increase ur tym according to ur shcedule

  3. If you enjoy it and have the time, ride more. It will only make you stronger, faster, and a better rider.

    HTH

  4. One hour is a good amount.  Anything more than that is probably overkill at 12 years old.  Just keep it fun.  If your body gets too run down, it's ok to take a day off here and there.

Also, maybe try to find others that enjoy bicycling and plan a ride as a group.  Group riding can be a motivating dynamic that you'll enjoy if you're currently riding alone.

Otherwise, make sure to be safe.  Wear a helmet.  Be safe with regard to traffic.  Also, make sure  you  are seen by  other vehicles.  I like to wear very bright colored shirts to help cars see me.

  5. I definitely think it is enough. I'm gonna give you some advice kid, you can take it or leave it. Try not to listen to any hardcore bikers that may tell you that you need to bike 50-100 miles in order to be considered a "biker", because that's simply not true. If you just bike around your block, guess what... you're a biker! You're only 12 and you should concentrate on having fun as your number one goal. Now don't get me wrong, if you feel comfortable biking for an hour and want to go for say 90 minutes or 120 minutes, then go for it. But I just want you to know that you shouldn't be pressured into going farther than you feel comfortable with or farther than will be fun for you. You've probably heard of the Tour de France bicycle race, but if you haven't, it's a bicycle race that takes place over a 3 week time period where the riders typically ride everyday, but they usually get 2 days off total during those 3 weeks. They ride on average about 100 miles a day. Keep in mind that these are professional athletes whose JOB is to bike. As you get older and probably will go to college, get a job, etc, you will find it nearly impossible to keep a training regimen like the pros do. A lot of bikers, in my opinion, think that the Tour de France is the ultimate bike race anywhere. But keep in mind, let's say you ask a marathon runner what the best race is... they'll probably say the Boston Marathon. But what about sprinters like Michael Johnson? He only runs one-fourth of a mile as his event. So does that mean that he's not as good of an athlete as a runner that runs a 26.2 mile marathon? No, of course not. So find a distance you like to bike that you feel comfortable with and do it. And if anybody tells you that it's not far enough, you tell them "It's far enough for me.". The point is just bike for your own enjoyment, that really is the key. Good luck to you and ride safe, don't forget to wear a helmet.

  6. Sure, thats a good amount.   Of course if you do anything the same for a long period, your body will adapt and you have to mix it up in order to see any fitness change.

When I was your age, I had a paper route (I dont think they exist anymore), so I rode every day.   We also rode down to the river to fish about every day.

Try different routes and paths to challenge yourself if you start feeling your hour is getting too easy.   Mix in some hill climbs to really feel the burn..then reward yourself with some fun downhill.  Always wear a helmet and gloves.  They not only protect, but they look cool.............
