  1. How old are you?  Running is very very stressful to your joints like ankle, knee and spine. You wont have problems now but in later decades you will be an orthopedic surgeons new boat.

  2. well ther wrong but if u suffer any pain or cramps then take off saturday 2

  3. YES

  4. People do hit plateaus. Maybe you can switch it up - cut it in half for a bit and do something else that will get your heart pumping.

Muscle is built by meeting resistance. I'm not sure that running will benefit your abs.

  5. are you doing any weight training? any ab-work? Are you only running?

If you've been running consistently for the same amount of time doing the same amount of work, your body has become accustomed to this amount and you have become more calorie efficient at this work. Please post workout information.

Running this much could be affecting your recovery, if you are doing other workouts, so if you add any lifting, be sure to cut back your cardio to about every other day so that you have "rest" days to recover and build muscle. Also, be sure you're ingesting enough protein to build muscle. Depending on your body size, 1g per lb of body weight is a modest place to start.

  6. Ruff! Cassy If you see this you know who I am....

  7. Don't run any less. Running is for cardiovascular strength, which helps you to lose weight, but doesn't necessarily build muscle. It'll tone you over time, but to actually build muscle you'll want to have a weight training program. Try this: After running, go inside and cool down for a bit. Once you're relaxed, do about 10 reps with the heaviest weights you can lift. This will absolutely tear up your muscles, so you shouldn't do it more than once a day, but it's great for muscle growth.

Just remember these---> For muscles, do less reps and more weight. For strength, do more reps with less weight.

  8. that makes absolutley no sense!

  9. do crunches right after you run......no its not keeping you from getting muscles

  10. you leave out major variables like age, height and weight, (let alone calorie intake and diet)  So....... running is great, great cardio and all around muscle Tone, but if you are trying to gain muscle you need heavy supply of protein-calorie intake and weight bearing exercises (lifting weights).  See a trainer.

  11. Elite runners run 6 to 7 days a week, some 2 to 3 times per day.  Consulting a nutritionist would be a great idea.  You are burning alot of calories and need to take in alot more than someone who doesn't exercise.    It's sounds like you already have muscle you just want to tone.  Use lighter weight and do more reps. and maybe add 1 or 2 more sets.  It would not hurt to only run 4 to 5 days a week and cross train the others.

  12. Yes. Running is your problem. Everytime you work your body hard your muscles tear. If you continue to run everyday, your muscles never have time to repair themselves, therefore they are simply not doing anything and you are not seeing the results. You should not cut your running in half everyday. You should instead run every other day, because they need a day in between to repair. Also, eat soon after running. It builds your metabolism to eat after a workout, and it also helps to repair/build your muscle. If you take my advice you will start to see results very soon.

  13. your not gonna get out of your frail body unless you do some crunches and lift some weights  running will tone but not add that much muscle mass  check out some p90x

  14. I do not think that is true. Keep running! Running does amazing things to the body and certainly will help you to live longer! I just recommend doing some ab-exercises such as sit-ups.

  15. I'm not an expert but I've heard running is one of the best exercises you can do with the exception of the stress it causes on joints. Try working out an hour or so a day about 4 days a week. Also, abs are difficult to improve upon, some people will never have those "washboard abs" because part of it is due to genes. Building muscle takes time also. Just keep at it and don't get discouraged. If you have the means hire a personal trainer at least long enough to learn how to effectively workout.

  16. if you run or diet you will loose weight because you loose excess fat.you can not loose muscle.

muscle mass is different than muscle strength.

eg:a slim  guy can lift a lot of weight than what a weak 350 pound man can.but the larger guy still has the momentum on his strong side.

you can gain muscle by eating necessary and required amounts of food like proteins, carbo, etc and doing regular warm up excersice but eating is important

you can strengthen your muscles by working out increasing the intensity.

you wont get stronger just by doing a morning walk

you have to run like somebody's trying to stab you and kill you

    intensity is the key.

  17. uh..I've never heard of that.

running is supose to help gain muscle.

    At least in the legs.

  18. You need to vary your runs. Harder workouts, longer workouts, recovery workouts, moderate workouts. Your muscles need various different workouts to get toned and actually show. Don't cut the run down. You might even want to add time to the run. Just five minutes more a week. Don't run longer than 80min. though. Unless you can really handle it. Hope this helps! Just email me for more info and training tips! :)

  19. You should run everyday for cardio not muscle mass. If you want mass then you should eat alot of carbs and starch and work your particular muscle every other day

  20. You should incorporate strength training for sure, strictly doing cardio will not help you gain the muscle mass you're seeking.  You should also look into protein shakes that work, they help beef up your muscle mass.  I buy products from a great company that offers all kinds of all natural nutrition products if you're interested email me.

  21. If you aren't seeing anymore results you would actually need to increase your work out!  Try adding 15 or 20 minutes per day, or add some distance to your run.

Your body is getting used to your workout and you need to increase it to see new results, or you will just maintain what you already have.

Try doing some crunches and ab work to get ab results.  Running does help your abs too!  :-)

  22. No, running will make you gain muscles. dont listen to them!

  23. Yea because you are straining your muscles and instead of growing everyday they are to busy healing from the work load you are putting on them.
