  1. You actually have a GC, but not an 8. You should have a GC6.

    GC is the body code for the 1st generation impreza (93-01 in US), and depending on the model year, was the number they put after the GC. The GC8 was the last series of the chassis (99-01 2.5RS). The wagons of the same style were GF body codes.

    Impreza Turbo's were not available in the US until 2002 with the release of the "Bugeye" WRX (Body code GD).

    The main difference between the two chassis is the size/weight. GC chassis were always lighter, but the GD chassis is more rigid.

    There is always a trade off. The GC is smaller, and less power goes further with a lighter chassis, as the GD is heavier, and requires more power to go as fast.
