  1. I ran for 35 years, and often heard my brain tell me to stop.

I would find ways to keep going - focusing on something not far ahead of me and telling myself I could make it to that spot.

Once I got there, I'd find a new target to focus on, and make it to there.

Before long, I was near my finish line and could focus on it.

The key may have been finding something to focus on so I wouldn't think of stopping.

Good luck.  I miss running, but a car accident finished it for me.

  2. Find someone that is a really good runner on your team. During the race try to follow them the whole time, or even go ahead of them. That's what I did, and I ended up getting ninth, and the person I was following got eighth out of like 50 girls.

  3. Every athlete has to deal with this.  Me being a swimmer, when I am swimming longer stuff, my head is always telling me to stop.  But I don't.  Somewhere inside you just have to push yourself.  Try to think of your last track meet of the season and think how well you want to do.  I know it helps me!!

  4. I used to b in the cross country team as well n trust me, every athlete will experience this problem. I know how painful it can get when it comes to pushing for trainings but I will think of the ppl who pin their hopes on me like my parents n frens who r cheering for me. If u r religious, think of god, how u can run for his glory.

A gd motivator will b telling myself that my goal is to not allow the next person to catch up with me or to overtake the person in front or at least close up the gap. With all these trainings, I m sure u will b better than the Joe average no matter what so u think of the pride u'll have when u r faster than some ppl n all. Always keep in mind ur ultimate goal to improve urself get into the team or sth like that. Nothing is impossible n   think ab how all the training will improve ur timing n that u r getting fitter thus havin a healthier more toned body. All these r bound to keep urself motivated. Last of all, dun aim too high for each training so u get disappointed all the time n b discouraged. U can improve urself by doing self training with a fren to motivate u as well.

No matter wat, wish u best of luck n forget the negative thoughts:)
