Doesn't matter what the word syllable count is, only the line count.  A nonet drops a syllable per line, so meter is out of the question.

This is a very humorous nonet. I loved it, especially the three syllable line. "Gruesome nine." I was born on a nine, you know? And yes, on occasion the fate is gruesome. Just so you know, your signale came in loud and clear. "Breaker, breaker, niner!"
