  1. bulls are used for food when they are done being useful in the mating department.

some of your ground hamburger comes from them, but people in some parts of the united states (idaho, oregon, montana) there could be others i don't know about eat part of the bull that are not... available on female cows. :(

it's disgusting. part of the reason why i'm a vegetarian:)

  2. generally bulls are only used for mating since the testosterone made from not being castrated will allow for large muscle development and render the bull tough meat therefore fit for low grade quality. They would use an old bull or cow for dog food or other by products. Its 2 yea old steers (castrated male cows) that make the best meat.

  3. Yes, Bulls that are used for food are typically castrated soon after birth.

It is far less common then cows and calf's though.

  4. If a bull is over 12 months old, the meat becomes dark and has a more "gamey" flavor. They are normally either castrated (fixed) or used before they reach a year. Bulls are used in non-human food though, such as dog food.

  5. bulls are used for mating and food

Bulls will generally become sterile over a few years of hard breeding and thats when they become food. They are probably made into ground meat because they are so old and tough
