I am confused, generally people who fear the government would not be Democratic as Democrats are for bigger federal government. Furthermore, Obama is in favor of Clinton gun laws which limit the firearms that law obiding citizens can own; people forget the one of the reasons for the 2nd Ammendment is to be able to overthrow a tyranical government. I appreciate any and all views on this.

  1. Makes sense to me. i love my country. I fear the current Republican government, therefore, I support OBAMA so that I can love my country and love my government.

  2. Makes perfect sense to me. I'd be scared of the government if Obama was president!

  3. Exactly! I had a similar discussion earlier with a friend in the Provost Marshall's Office. It's the consensus among the general military services that the single largest, most immediate. imminent, and potentially dangerous threat to the American people, is the campaign of Hussein Obama. I hear people all the time talk about how he's going to make these sweeping changes, but nobody seems to realize that the changes he wants made HAVE TO BE MADE at the Senatorial level. The President does not have the power to make such "Changes" as he's touting. If he could, it would not be a Presidency, but a Dictatorship. Whenever I see and hear Obama, it takes me back to the Cold War Era. Only he reminds me a LOT more of Andropov than he EVER will of Reagan. And as a President, without the support of Congress, the Senate, or the military (Which I ASSURE YOU, he WILL NOT HAVE) He will be about as impotent and non-important as Jimmy Carter. In fact, I honestly believe that Obama is nothing more than history repeating itself, and he is this generations Carter. A black, impotent, incompetent, nobody, who makes promises impossible to keep, and has the communist liberals of this country believing in their naivete, that he may actually be able to deliver. SAD!!!

  4. Maybe it was referring to the current administration? The rest of the world is certainly more scared of Republican governments than Democrat ones!

Anyway, person freedom and American-style liberalism are not mutually exclusive. Dem governments may tend towards bigger welfare schemes etc which you could argue is "big" government but then an Obama administration is less likely to be as authoritarian as a McCain one and that's what should worry you.

The Department of Homeland Security for example, is much more likely to infringe on personal freedoms than say, the Hillarycare scheme in the 90's, but it is much more typical of the sort of initiatives Republican presidencies tend to produce.

  5. You must have been in a coma for the last 7 years.

  6. Big federal government is a scary thing.  They take our freedoms. Big government can become a tyrannical government.

  7. It's a bumper sticker, don't read to much into it

  8. Maybe they fear that the government will legislate against their personal lifestyle (such as g*y marriage, the right to put into your body whatever you want (drugs, alcohol, etc...)).

After all, if they do those things, the government will send men with guns after them.

A Ron Paul, or a Bob Barr sticker instead of an Obama one would make MUCH more sense, because if they can't afford to pay taxes to pay for social programs, they will get men with guns sent after them too.

The red vs. blue thing is a lose-lose situation.

  9. Could anyone not fear this current government? Imagine it remains the same for 8 more years, you better fear it cause if you weren't rich before you will certainly be broke, and be drafted to go to the middle east.

  10. Sounds about right.

Republicans destroying your ability to earn a living.

  11. Yeah, I mean for the most part, if you don't trust government, Congress is a big part of our government and it's Democratic at this point, then you don't want MORE of that.

But, who knows.   Maybe they fear their government because it isn't in their lives enough or something.

  12. Well Bush flipped the script when he wanted the USA PATRIOT act, which legalized wire tapping and the suspension of habeous corpus in Gitmo. So in reality the Government that is more intrusive is the GOP style government while the less intrusive has become the Democrats style of government.

  13. Dude, you can say that the Republicans are for smaller government but that doesn't change the fact that the current administration passed the Patriot Act and the FISA bill both of which drastically increase the governments ability to infringe upon our civil liberties. If you were really in favor of a smaller gorvernment you would have nominated Paul. As it is Barr's probably your best bet, even though there's no way a candidate not running for one of the two major parties has a chance at this election.
