Former Inter Milan director, Gabriele Oriali, insists that the numbers in the Serie A points table can sometimes be misleading.
The veteran believes that despite the defeat, the Milan outfit did not look as if they are 18 points away from Juventus in the league standings.
The Nerazzurri suffered yet another defeat at the hands of the Old Lady, after Juventus defeated the visitors 2-0 in the game played at Turin on Sunday. The loss at the hands of the only undefeated side in Serie A this season is
no surprise for a team already struggling with form. However, the Beneamata’s resolute performance for a good long part in the match raised many eyebrows.
While talking to the press, the 1982 World Cup winning player said:
“I saw a great Inter for an hour. I saw the spirit of a great side and it doesn’t seem to me that the difference between us and Juve is 18 points.”
Inter Milan are placed 8th in the Serie A points table and the defeat has further diminished their already bleak hopes of reaching the crucial third spot of the Serie A, and qualify for the UEFA Champions League. The

Oriali went on to say that Inter’s poor performance in the defence has been a major cause for the team’s embarrassing season. He insisted that the number of goals conceded by the club is an abomination for a club the stature of

“Inter have conceded 38 goals this season and that is an enormity.”
Juventus have the best record in Serie A when it comes to defence, while there are only six teams in the Italian league that have conceded more goals in the season than Inter Milan.
