Question:

I saw a strange toad-like fish in an aquarium today and want to know what it is? description inside...?

i spotted this sitting at the bottom of the small seahorse tank. it was black/charcoal grey in colour, about 20cm long and looked like a rough toad shaped rock with a thin, tapering horn-like protuberance sticking up from the 'head' about 2.5cm.

then it moved slowly, on two hind 'legs', like slightly shorter toads legs on either side, and two leg- like protuberances sticking out of the front half of the (lighter in colour) underbelly (these could have been red/pinkish in colour).

i think the mouth was quite small too, and not sure where the eyes were...

i looked up pics of toadfish, but none resembled what i saw. any ideas? the tank was only labelled as 'seahorses'...

fascinatingly ugly little fella...
