I saw a yellow flag on a forestry area hanging by a tree branch.?

What does the yellow flag mean?

While it could be a property marker, it is  more like a pruning mark indicating which tree has been pick to be prune.

It could be a boarder or property marker.

Or, someone could be coming home from the service...i.e. like he song, "Tie a yellow ribbon 'round the old oak tree."
