I saw on the news that the Russians are fighting in Georgia...Help my I cannot locate my Mother!

My mother lives in Waycross not to far south of Atlanta. I saw the Russians have tanks in Georgia and there is a fight going on. I tried to call mom and she does not answer. How bad is it? Are the phone lines down. Thanks.
