Fannie Mae has not collapsed. However the bank has been taken over by the federal government. The next step would step would the Federal deposit insurance corporation will guarantee the accounts of these customers up to $100,000. Those who have $100,000. the banking would continue normally as to their checking accounts, a.t.m cards etc. However those individuals who have accounts over $100,000. will only receive 50 per cent of the monies over $100,000. The bank name of Fannie Mae has been changed to Fannie Mae federal.  Freddie Mac has also been take over by the federal government and is now the federal deposit insurance corporation and will treat the bank customers the same way as the Fannie Mae Federal the same way. Now the Indy Mac has failed. It is my hope that the Indy Mac customers will be treated the same way as Fannie Mae Federal and the Freddie Mac Federal bank customers were treated. I hope they will be treated the same way but I not sure that they will be treated the same way. This even more tragic because these two bank are responsible for fifty (50) per cent of the countries mortgages. If these banks condition were to worsen these mortgage may go into default leaving fifty per cent of the country with out homes. Now there are over ninety (90) banks in the same situation has Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. If I were you I would do may bank with other countries bank. I wish that state of our economy could be better.
