  1. I would say yes. I have talked to Admissions Counselours at the U of M. And they look at the big picture, and take everything into consideration.


  2. Can you? Absolutely! You have a lot on your side.

    Your essay is VERY important, though. You want to make your application as well-rounded as possible.

    However, realize that schools don't know you. You're just a piece of paper to them and despite your excellent GPA, volunteer work, and race they may pick the son/daughter of an alumnus/alumna over you. Likewise, your minority status might get you in over someone with a 3.9 GPA.

    So without a doubt you a good enough to get in to lots of schools. So don't take rejections personally. It feels like a personal attack, but remember that is is not and you are worthy of any school... It's all political.
