I scored the hundred with a back-injury, reveals Tillakaratne Dilshan – Cricket News Update
Centurion of the 3rd One Day International (ODI) against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TM-Dilshan-c2691, has revealed that he faced pain in his back during the match and was not 100-percent fit while batting in the evening.
Chasing a competitive total in the second innings, the home team lost three of their most important players, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DPMD-Jayawardene-c1397 for just 73 runs on the board. Dilshan however, took the responsibility on his shoulders along
with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AD-Mathews-c913, the vice-captain, as the duo scored 127 runs for the fourth-wicket partnership and remained unbeaten.
Dilshan was named as the Player of the Match for his stunning 102 not out, which came off just 95 balls with the help of 12 fours and a six.
While expressing his views in the post-match presentation ceremony, the opening batsman expressed that he had a troubled-back, which did not make things easy for him in the field as well as with the bat in hand.
The aggressive batsman expressed that the new http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 regulations and the wet outfield helped him play his strokes.
“Soon after the toss, I had some pain in the back. When I was batting I was about 75%. There was some problem while fielding,” said Dilshan.” First few overs were bit difficult after that the ball was wet, four fielders outside the circle, we capitalised
on that. Bit easy with the four fielders in the middle overs.”
Sri Lanka’s captain, Jayawardene, is also jubilant with his team’s performance and mentioned the maturity Mathews has started to show in recent times. The middle-order batsman further added that the team management is looking to promote the vice-captain
higher up the batting order in future, so that he can further enhance his batting skills.
The cricketer from Colombo is also delighted with the emergence of some budding all-rounders like Jeevan Mendis and Thisara Perera, who have offered a very nice balance to the side.
“We are trying to give Angelo more opportunities to bat. He's taken more responsibility now at No 5. Having all these all-rounders gives us balance,” the skipper expressed.
