I scraped the back of my leg on a rusty metal cabinet....?

Question

in a car shop. ( i was in the back cuz my ex works there and he was the one working on it )

i'm not sure if it broke skin, if it did, it was barely.

i don't have health insurance right now, so i don't wanna go to the doctor unless i have to. the cabinet is grimey though. i don't know. what do you think?

You should get a tetanus shot just to air on the side of caution.

However if you have had a tetanus shot in the past 10 years you do not need to get one now (they last for ten years).

Also if there is a free clinic in your area, you can go there and get checked out for free. So you should look in to that.

I would think you would be ok just cleaning the area real good with soap and water for a few days but if the skin was broken you may need a tetanus shot if you haven't had one in 7 years.  Just watch the area for redness, warmth, or any drainage.

clean it as best as you can. if it starts to look suspicious you should probably go to the doctor.
