I screwed myself over..kind of..help!?

So I have VA benefits, I get 881/month because I am a full time student. The other day I withdrew from my college algebra class because I would have made a C, possibly even a high D, and to me that is not worth the effects it has on my GPA, because I know I am going to be making a C in another class.

I dropped the class, and I am aware that I will have to pay the VA back around 900 dollars or so, but that is not a big deal.

I learned today that I am covered by ChampVA, which is my healthcare insurance. I learned today that they do not cover me because I am not full time anymore since I dropped one class. I have a doctors appt. on Monday, but I do not know what to tell my mom, because I haven't even told her I withdrew from a class yet.

I am 17 and turn 18 on Saturday, that is why I just now found out I am covered under ChampVA because I needed to submit a verification of enrollment form. This means I wont be covered until the fall semester.

What should I tell my mom?!

  1. Tell her you dropped a class, and don't have coverage any more.

Honestly, once you get out in the 'real world', gpa means NOTHING.

  2. Tell her the truth as quickly as possible.  She may be able to make a few calls and get it "fixed".

Are you sure you're not "full time" any more?  Can you get into a "replacement" class?

If necessary, try to get back in the class - even if you fail it in the end.

Trust me, health care is worth toughing it out.
