A client called me on Thursday this week and told me that she wrote the wrong amount down on her PO order. She wrote 200 cards for 2 names, except her quantity was incorrect. It was at 500. She called me on thursday and I was so busy that I forgot to change the information. I had asked the client to give me a revised document, but she didn't want to. What can I do or what can I say to my boss on Monday? Please advise.

  1. I know how you feel...you do your best to make sure everything is perfect and then you find out that you goofed.  Relax everyone has been there including your boss.  Nip this in the bud sooner than later - you'll feel so much better.

Get to the office early Monday morning hopefully your boss will be there.  This way you'll have a chance to talk to him when there are no distractions.  Tell him what happened and how you plan to correct the problem.  Your boss understands you are not perfect and mistakes will be made.  What he's looking for is how are you going to fix it and minimize the loss.  He'll recognize your leadership and appreciate you taking the initiative to resolve the problem.  Become a master at turning a negative situation into a positive one.  This could be your chance to prove yourself and that you're ready for more responsibility.

    Best of Luck!

  2. Tell your boss the truth about what happened.
