Open container laws or ordinances are those that prohibit one from having an open container of alcohol in public or an auto-mobile. What justification is there for these laws? I'm sure people will say that its bad to have alcohol in the car, but most countries don't have laws against it, as long as the driver isn't drinking, and more importantly for me, at least, is the part about being in public.

  2. it is hard to use the 'there are laws like this in other counties'.. we have to go by the laws in the country we are in right now..

are you have a problem with the definition of 'being in public'. ?  To me being in public anywhere you are outside the privacy of yours or someone house..a car is not a private space.

  3. There is no way of being able to know who was drinking from the open container, so rather than having to bother testing everyone in a vehicle, they just banned people from having open containers.
