Is it now just any excuse for second rate performers to look like they they care about something whilst tirelessly promoting thier their own worthlessness?

  1. The line up is;

    Queen and Paul Rodgers     Jamelia

    Annie Lennox                         Johnny Clegg

    Simple Minds                         Sipho Mabuse

    Leona Lewis                           Loyiso

    Sugababes                             Kurt Darren

Dame Shirley Bassey           The Soweto Gospel Choir

    Razorlight                                Andrea and Sharon Corr

Eddy Grant                             The Children of Agape Choir

    Papa Wemba                         Emmanuel Jal

  2. Is it Government Funded?

    Better not be...

  3. If you got to the age of 90, I guess you'd be pleased and want to celebrate it.

  4. When it comes to the fact that Nelson Mandela is the best musician in the lineup then it shows the lineup is c**p.

I would give away a ticket if I had one and Glastonbury looks the same.

  5. I know this will sound like blasphemy to many, but what has Mandela actually done since his release? He has stood by and grinned at the camera whilst SA has become a superstitious third world  country, with thousands dying because the 'minister of health' puts more faith in traditional magic than modern science and medicine. I see little to celebrate, second rate bands or not!

  6. The man was a terrorist, as was his wife whilst he was in prison. How quickly history re-writes itself.  What is it with z-list celebrities deification of this man? I have no problem with the performers but question who they are performing in celebration of. TD all you want, check the history.

  7. It could well be the only gig that some of them will get this year.Any idea what is going to happen to the proceeds. Will the ticket money be spirited away and if not who is in charge of its distribution.

  8. Seems so, what's the line up? I will go and look.

I saw Roger Taylor from Queen, plugging it on BBC news yesterday. Sounds worse than that concert for Diana last year.

Happy Birthday to Nelson Mandela though ~ respect!

*edit* Line up isn't impressive ~ Razorlight are good but wouldn't bother with any others.

  9. I disagree with your posit.

  10. Same old line up - a bunch of has-beens.

  11. The last time anyone decent sang a decent song in Hyde Park I think his name was Mick Jagger and the year was 1969.  And I say that as someone who wasn't even born then.

  12. Almost certainly.

  13. Nelson Mandela was a terrorist so who will it be next year I wonder , Osama Bin Laden ?

  14. Absolutely, and I understand 64 446 tickets will be sold! This will also be the last public performance for Madiba. He will hand over this concert to Johnny Clegg and the Soweto String Quartet.
