I am a 27 year old female that feels tired and lacks energy. Lately more so that in the past. I do not smoke or drink, and I do not exercise regularly. I've recently started making better food choices. I work part time, but the hours vary week to week. Can someone please give me some advice to get my energy level up.

  1. I suggest cutting out caffeine and sugary drinks. these just raise your energy levels briefly and drop you into a bigger slump.

It may be worth seeing your doctor. It could be, if you are overweight that this is this is the start of diabetes. But definitely go see the doctor as they can provide more answers.

  2. it sounds like youre not drinking enough water.

try drinking 5-8 glasses of water a day and youll probably feel

better in a week or two

    good luck

    hope i helped (:

  3. This was exactly my problem. Went to the dr and turns out my thyroid function is abnormal. All it takes is a pill of day and I have SO MUCH energy and plus the sleep I do have is much better. You can find out with a simple blood test. Good luck!

  4. Firstly, try to get some regular exercise in. Walk briskly to work, or join a gym. Just 30 min. of aerobic exercise a day will improve your energy levels and overall health.

Look at your food choices again, is your body getting what it needs to be healthy? Maybe take some multivitamins if you find you are lacking in some areas. I also recommend fish oil. It seems to help keep my brain more focused and alert. It has many other benefits as well. Drink lots of water too, I can't tell that to people enough.

If after that you still feel tired, examine your sleep habits. Are you getting good sleep? How many hours? In order for your body to rest in needs to be "unplugged" as in lights, tv, phone.

If you still feel run down, see your doctor. You may have an underlying health issue (thyroid) that is causing it.

    Good luck!

  5. Yes it sounds like anemia or some sort of deficiency.  It may be the starting symptoms of something more serious though.  Go to your doctor with a list of symptoms and to save time do a pain/fatigue diary.  Good Luck!

  6. Maybe you're anemic my sister had this, sounds like alot of the same symptoms you have, it's like a vitamin or iron deficiency in your blood or something like that ,you should go get a blood test with the doc

  7. The job that you have chosen could have a lot to do with you being tired, because of the different hours. However, one thing that you could try is to get up at the SAME time each morning & go to bed at the SAME time each night. (Relatively the same, such as 6-6:30am each morning & 9:30-10pm each night) Many people will sleep until 10am if they don't have to be at work until 11am, so that just makes you really tired & your body doesn't get used to this....ever.

Also, it's a very good thing that you've started eating healthier. That will benefit you more than just for gaining energy. For a quick pick me up....try fresh fruit, grapes, raisins, peanut butter crackers or fresh veggies. Don't drink energy drinks, they'll just leave you ***crashing*** in an hour or so & then you feel 5 times worse than you did.

Try getting yourself in a sleep routine & then see if that's helped any within a week or so. You should feel a big difference with just this one change. Exercise will actually increase your energy too (any kind of exercise!)

    Good luck!

  8. Exercising regularly will help. You could start by just walking around the block once or twice a week and extend your route from there. Also, do you usually find yourself not having anything to do? Out of boredom, your body may just use sleep as an alternative. One last thing, only use your bed for sleeping and s*x. Try not to eat, read, or write papers on your bed. Being around it may trigger you to be sleepy all the time.

  9. it could be that you need a B-12 shot, or that you are low on iron. both of these cause fatigue and loss of energy. the only way to find out is if the Doctor does a blood test. have him check, and then you will know. good luck.

  10. You should go see your doctor.  You probably have an abnormal thyroid function.  This is a very common problem.

  11. I would actually suggest starting to exercise a little. You will be surprised at how much energy just a half an hour walk will give you. I too do not smoke or drink, but I used to not eat very well or exercise at all. And my energy levels and health are a lot better. I am not saying to go to the gym every single day, just take a walk 2 or 3 times a week, and gradually do it more. Plus it never hurts to get outside and look at nature. It could also be that you are eating close to your bed time. Do not eat after 9pm, unless of course you work overnight or something. If you eat right before you go to bed, it will make it so you can't sleep, and obviously if you don't sleep very well you will not have much energy the next day. You could also be getting too much sleep. Try only getting at the most 8 hours. This is all you should need to feel rested, unless of course you are sick. It is also not a good idea to exercise right before you go to bed. It will have the same affect as eating right before you go to bed.
