  1. Walk on your tip toes a lot , I know when I was young I couldn't even touch the goal on basketball goal then I walked on my tip toes very long time every day. I do it alittle every day and finally I was able to reach it, then later be able to slam it. Couldn't palm the ball but being only 5 10 and slamming just felt good.

  2. for basketball i put tape as high as i could jump..then i put a piece higher and after i jumped 100 times touching the higher one i went and placed one higher ..keep doing this it will build the muscles you need for jumping...PS remember to stretch or you will knot up and possibly tear  a muscle..good luck =)

  3. to get better timing with your lifters just before you jump do a little hop and then jump up and the lifters will know when your ready and when to lift and should take you up keep your feet and legs dead straight together and keep your head up

  4. do jumping everyday with determination

  5. The basic exercises mentioned do help a lot.  Simple repetitive jumping that builds the right muscles, but when you do them you have to remember to do them in rugby style.  A basketball player tapes the wall and does simple toe jumps in the air, you're going to have to crouch down to make sure it is similar to how you would really be doing it in a line out.

Also remember when you jump, legs together, you get better height when you legs aren't flailing all over the place.

And finally, try adding a line of tape around your thighs where your lifters place their hands, it can give them better grip so it makes tossing you up in the air easier.  Also a cheat is to make the tape shelf-like, roll some old ankle socks and tape them on the front so the front lifter really has a place to stick their hands.

  6. Get a power jumper or portable jumper

(power jumper's got the wrong photo)

Will increase your jump height and power very quickly.

When your happy with your jump, work with your lifters on timing and technique.

  7. as a lineout gumper, it shouldnt be about how high you can jump, your lifters should be trowing you up in the air as high as possible, so tell them to get off their lazy asses and work on getting you up in the air
