she said "the concern was on the safety and well being of the americans dealing with the hurricane and when events like this occurr we are all americans" .well i guess now they could use the hurricane victims votes with the election so close .In 2005 during hurricane Katrina it wasn't necessary and we weren't all americans and the safety and well being wasn't an issue isn't it funny how people act when they need you? .otherwise they dont give a c**p .open your eyes americans on who laura is for.

  1. It's really sickening the way they try to make this political.

    Eekie and gross.

  2. They are so thankful for this hurricane cause they couldn't get people to come to the conventation. Most of the republicans hate McCain & have had horrible fights with him & refused to come. They were going around trying to get people & offering buses to get people to come & fill our a place & they couldn't get 10,000 people. There main speakers were Bush & Rove. They are a disaster in every way & Obama is magnificent.

  3. Oh Brother.  I'll tell you what President and Mrs. Bush learned from Katrina, they learned that they  couldn't depend on the Governor of LA and the Mayor of New Orleans to do their jobs!!! You are probably one of those people who doesn't what the government involved in your life until you want them to feed, clothe and pay you for doing nothing.  Since when is an American not responsible for taking care of themselves?  The people in New Orleans were told to leave, the mayor and the Governor didn't help their citizens leave the area in a safe and efficient manner.  No matter who the President is, he can not stop a hurricane!!! Tell me, if you knew there was a car coming at you at 120 mph would you get your lazy butt out of the way or want the President to move you?  How many days notice did the residents of New Orleans have before Katrina? How many waited too long to leave or decided not leave and then complained that no one was helping them? How many lived on the money the government was providing them for as long as they could without making any effort to take care of themselves?  Katrina was a horrible tragedy for all of those effected by it, but President Bush had no power to stop the hurricane or move the people. Oh, and I'm sorry, but President Bush isn't running for office this time, you are obviously an Obama supporter so call him and have him stop the hurricane!  If he does, I'll vote for him.

  4. McCain was eating birthday cake with Bush.  Bush also took the time to tell Brownie he was doing a "great" job...

  5. They were busy patting their crony Brownie on the back and saying good job while they were in an airplane hanger thousands of miles away...We on the other hand, were watching an entire city drown.  We were also watching the news media call American citizens 'refugees'.

We STILL love you New Orleans and Gulf Coast!!!

  6. You know that the government took over from the begginning. In these situations the local governments, mayor, govenor, etc, take these measures by themselves. Other areas hit during Katrina evacuated, cleaned up, and began rebuilding prior to  any assistance. The fact they government stepped in from the begginning says that the local governments are incompetant. Katrina's failures began with the mayor. This was made worse by the govenor, at the time, not allowing federal troops into louisianna. Also, the Mayor had evacuated himself and his family without organizing any comprehensive plans for any one else. He simply sent message to go to the already over crouded facilities. Then there is the billions of dollars every year to reinforce and maintain the levies for years prior to the hurricane. What happened to that money? Not a dime had been used for reinforcement. The fed had warned, army core of engineers, even state engineers warned about impending doom if nothing were done about the levies. That a cat 5 hurricane was due to hit. So, try to keep this in mind when criticising the responce to Katrina.

  7. They weren't expecting to have such a hurricane.  ALSO, they were told to leave the area.

  8. First 3 days prior to Katrina going on shore President Bush declared the Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama coastal counties a disaster zone. Never in history has a president done that BEFORE a hurricane came on shore. He did this to allow federal aid to be available to these states should their governors request it. Louisiana's democrat Governor refused federal help. The Mayor of New Orleans did nothing to help his people get out and Bush was blamed. I recommend you quit watching DNC TV (MSNBC, CNN, etc.) because the mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Oh and by the way the only coastal state that had a Democrat Governor during Katrina tossed her out the next election because of her incompetence. Try not to let facts or truth confuse your falsely held political biases.

  9. The truth is the 2 Democratic people involved in New Orleans completely failed to do what they knew had to be done, Ray would not use the thousand or so school buses in NO because they were uncomfortable, I guess uncomfortable is worse than dead like he left them. Of the 3 political powers involved Mayer, Governor, President, Bush did more than either or both of the others together, he had the Air force, Air National Guard, Army Guard and  Active Army standing by to help. Ask your self this, who stopped the National Guard from delivering ice and water to those stranded in the Dome. Ole Ray Nagen himself.

Why, you might ask, did this time things go much better, one a Republican Governor was in charge and basically Ray was told get the H E L L out you won't be able to blame Bush for this one.

  10. Gov. Kathleen Blanco Refused Bush Aid and then shifted the blame.

Though her state has been devastated by Hurricane Katrina and thousands are believed dead in New Orleans, Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco has refused to allow the federal government to take control of evacuation efforts.

"Shortly before midnight Friday, the Bush administration sent her a proposed legal memorandum asking her to request a federal takeover of the evacuation of New Orleans," the Washington Post reported in Sunday editions.

Gov. Blanco's office rejected the request, the paper said - concerned that such a move would be comparable to a federal declaration of martial law.

The Louisiana Democrat had also failed to use more than a hundred school buses parked near the Superdome to transport stranded citizens who didn't have the means to obey earlier evacuation orders.

  11. the only difference today and 3 years ago was today the governor of Louisiana is a REPUBLICAN

so it seems the question should by why was Katherine Blanco (D) not able to provide for her state as the Governor is supposed to
