I serviced a janome 2018e

Question

i serviced a janome 2018e and come to sewing it off and found the foot control pedal not working when you push the pedal down the machine just jolts a little when you push on the pedal.I fitted another pedal and all works fine when I pulled apart the pedal it was fitted with a pcb and electronic slide control I was told this was the incorrect pedal and was normally used on an overlocker and should just fot a universal pedal and loop the extra wire that power the circuitry to the input wire.Does this sound ok or would this be the correct pedal?Regards Aln
