ok my parents earn way over 30k so i cant get it but they dont give me a penny and this summer ive been all over england with family so had no chance with a job and i cant have a job in college time because it will ruin my study time as in my first year of college (going into second now) i worked almost everyday till 8-9 o clock at night and even on weekends and didnt get any time for myself or my friends and its so hard for me to get money. And my friend he gets EMA but doesnt need it as he has a job does crappy subjects so doesnt need to put in the work and his parents give him enough cash.

and im not one of those people whose naturally smart i actually have to work hard for it.

oh and at the begining of college i had a job interview but my parents said no.

  1. personally i think your being a bit rude saying your friend does 'crappy subjects'.  And if your parents earn *way over* 30k they should be able to give you the money and you could get a job and still have good grades at school. And if your parents say no to job interviews ask for the money. what other choice do you have?

  2. Well i do think that all A Level students should get EMA as there are many books etc you will need.

I am the same as you where i have to work extremely hard to get good grades :( i am only starting 6 form this september, however i am entitles to EMA.

I also have a job though i do think its unfair x

  3. i was in a similar situation were my parents earned over 30k so i couldn't get it.

if you really would like some cash you should tell them how you feel about it, maybe you can come to some sort of arrangement, where you they could give you an allowance, or they allow you to get a Saturday job

when i was at college a lot of people just worked Saturdays to get some cash.
