hey people, this summer me and my bf wanna go abroad for learning spanish. At the first place,we both had wanted to go to Latin America(Guatemala) but now i changed my mind.He thinks my family made me to change my mind. Because,my dad wants me to go to Spain. My bf thinks Spain is so expensive for living. Also he worries about finding a job there. He is an english teacher. I think it is not that hard to find a job as an english teacher. There should be lof of english courses in Spain. How can i convince him about going there instead of Latin america?? I wanna go Malaga. How will i tell him.We might argue again.

  1. Advantages of Spain:

    1. A part of Europe and not 3rd world.

    2. Safer.

    3. Less crime.

    4. Cost of living is OK if you go into the country some what.

    Cons:

    1. Spaniards are very racist and nationalistic.

    2. Socialist run it for now.

    3. HIGH taxes.

    4. Lots of skinheads.

  2. Tell him you'd rather go there...but you both are going together..but if he doesn't want to go to Spain..then you should go with what you both had discussed earliar and just go to Latin America. You can't argue with him because YOU changed your mind..that isnt fair.

  3. This is just my opinion, but I would suggest going to Buenos Aires, Argentina or Santiago, Chile.  You would have lower prices (though only slightly lower compared to Guatemala), your boyfriend would be able to find a job as an English teacher, and they are MUCH more developed cities than any place in Guatemala.  Personally, I think your boyfriend would have a hard time finding a job in Spain if he has an American accent and doesn't already speak Spanish.  They are very euro-centric.

Buenos Aires has been called the Paris of South America, and in Santiago the architecture is gorgeous.  Plus, you can see deserts, glaciers, mountains, lakes, and rain forests and not have to travel that far.

If you REALLY want to learn Spanish though, the best accent does come from Central America.  It's like Midwestern American English.  It's the one accent where nobody from any other Spanish-speaking country has to say "huh?"
