The axed Inter Milan manager admits that the Nerazzurri should have done better to keep hold of the Brazilian during his spell at San Siro.
Claudio Ranieri has voiced his regret at allowing Thiago Motta to move away from Inter Milan, and believes that his story with the Milan outfit could have ended differently with the midfielder at his disposal.
The Brazilian playmaker was sold to Paris Saint-Germain in January, and his departure was soon followed by the axing of the tactician from San Siro in March.
Ranieri stated that letting go of Motta was one of the biggest mistakes of his tenure at the Nerazzurri, and insisted that the presence of the PSG midfielder in the squad would have been a great help for him.
While talking to the Corriere dello Sport, the 60-year-old said:
“My biggest error was agreeing to the departure of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thiago-Motta-c34897.”
The former Chelsea coach replaced Gian Piero Gasperini at the helm of the Milan outfit- a tactician that also complained about the club’s transfer policy.
Now, Ranieri has also revealed that he had his differences with Massimo Moratti over the transfer decisions.
The former Nerazzurri manager stated that the President expressed his desire to buy Carlos Tevez from Manchester City, but that was not a choice the tactician agreed with.
The ex-http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 boss insisted that he views Mattia Destro as an exceptional talent, and wanted to bring him back to the San Siro in order to strengthen their attack.
“Moratti told me on more than one occasion that he wanted to sign http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-c8346 Tevez from Manchester City. If it was up to me, I would have tried to bring Mattia Destro back to the club instead.”
Destro went on to score 12 goals for Siena in the 2011-12 campaign, and his goal-scoring spectacles have caught the eye of the likes of Juventus, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603. While his move seems imminent, there is the co-ownership
deal between the Tuscan minnows and Genoa, which has clouded the future of the striker.
