I shut off my laptop computer last night...then I go to turn it on today...and the I got the DELL screen...?

then I got prompted and I clicked "okay" and now all I get is the bar loading screen and nothing happens....what is wrong with my computer?

To get into safe mode you press F8 after the bios screen come up.  F12 should get you to a boot menu.  remove any CD's, flash drives, floppies, or anything plugged into the USB ports.  If you can get into safe mode then you can transfer your important files to a flash drive.  You hard drive may be failing and you risk loosing everything on your laptop.  

If you get XP working you need to check the event viewer for disk errors in the system logs.  if you have ANY then you hard drive is about to fail and again you need to back up your documents ASAP.

Not sure what is wrong, but the same thing happened to me. When the loading screen come up press F8 several times. You should get a menu with several options about how to start your computer. Choose "Last known good configuration". You computer should start and everything should work.

this is awkward because it happened to me moisture probably got into the main computer area making the computer screen not come up.My sister threw a tantrum and slamed the screen down. you may have pushed it down to hard. Your computer may stay like this forever or it will eventually load up. 50% 50% cance

Restart your computer, as soon as the Dell screen comes on Click and hold the "F8" key it will give you a screen with different choices.  Pick the choice that says "start my computer in normal mode"  It shoud start your computer and you should be ok.  If holding down the F8 key doesn't work just keep pressing it until you hear beeping.  You have to do it as soon as the screen is coming on though or it won't work.  You can also select " start computer with last known good configuration if starting it normal doesn' t work.

turn it off then when you turn it on right off the bat keep pressing the F4 key untill the safe mode screen pops up then click start windows with the last known settings or something like that.

I am not a computer genius but anytime my laptop freaks, I take off the battery and put it on and it fixes itself.  Try that.

Yes if that happens then keep shutting it off and on and if that doesn't work then you might have a problem.

you should turn it on in safe mode and run a virus scan.  

press f8 just after it goes to the load screan.
