i noticed the little vista loading thingo (the circle with the rotatin light). I THINK it started higher then what it is now. Does it go down as the installing progresses? Also my laptop is new.....

  1. it is unlikely that the installation progress will go on for hours.. If I had encountered the same problem I would have restarted/reset the system by holding down the power button..

  2. It's normal, and it's also a pain. So much so that I disabled automatic updates in my laptop, although Microsoft doesn't recommend it.

  3. im guessing u have a dell???? well my dell laptop has done that before... i would suggest calling for help...

  4. I think you have a problem, i suggest just restart the thing once it boot up it will roll back all its changes it will take a while, it will do this because it didn't successfuly install the update, just to be on the safe side have teh vista installer cd beside you there are cases that NTOSKERNEL went missing, after reboot, all you ave to do is boot from the cd then select recover to fix the error, windows can successfully fix this.
