I signed the bottom of my check, but had not completed any other info.The check was stolden. Whos liable??

After my check book was stolden I found this signed, but blank check was cashed> Am I liable for this check???

  1. No one is liable with the possibility of the thief. You signed a check, someone took it the bank, and the bank honored it. Your signature was valid so the bank is not liable. The check must be endorsed, so you may have the actual name of the thief, or a fake name. If you can find the thief and prove that he stole the check, you may have a case against the thief. Otherwise you simply gave away your money.


  2. if you can prove that you didn't actually fill out the check you will have to check with your bank but unless they know who actually did the check you are probably out that money.
