  1. It's much worse then you think. We are primates! Horrors!

Humans are part of the hominid family. They are both part of and descended from them. The process of this development is called evolution. In brief, this means that new species develop and expand as they are better at dealing with their environment then others. See: http://www.nap.edu/readingroom/books/evo...

for a discussion of the evolution process.

The hominids include humans and the apes. They are part of the family Hominidae, of the order Primate. Humans did not "descend from the apes" We share a common ancestor with them and are considered "cousins." Chimpanzees, our closest relative, share a 99% match in DNA. In protein sequencing, the match is closer, no differences at all.  When man's protein sequencing is compared to gorillas there is only two differences in the match with hemoglobin, red blood cells and amino acids. Lastly the antgen-antibody reaction for humans is 97% from chimpanzees compared to 50% for baboons. In other words we're related. DNA is today used to show how closely people are related (as in determining paternity) and to determine if people were at a crime scene (as a means to determine guilt or innocence). It also is used to determine how long ago species split off from each other.

The split from the apes is put at 8 million years ago. That's based both on the fossil remains and the know rate of change for DNA. The first bipedal hominids (walking on two feet) is 4 million years ago.

All of this is going on within the primate order.

  2. WE ARE STILL PRIMATES!

  3. Yes, it has been proven that this is true but the people who said it were "shut up" and the book's that talked about it were consittered unpolitically correct after WW2 and esspecially 1964! Have u noticed some i won't say when pure have a skull that most of it's size is in the lower jaw area and their face and nose stick out well beyond their foreheads like an ape almost like a mozel. Also, that in the pure form they have alot of ape like features like yellowishness in the whites of the eye's! Thick skin and a thick skull. The truth is there people that study and know are scared to say **** they'll be fired and labeled a racist or a "n**i" !! So we go on in this fantacy land dream world of fauseness to not hurt these not mentioned people! U can tell what race someone is just by their skulls. That is hidden from u 2! They want you to believe it's only skin color that is our difference! Why, can u see a full albino of these people and still tell what they are if skin color was the only difference and not skull shape ect?

  4. Population studies, using known and accepted mathematical formulas, and working backwards from the current global population of humans at around 6.5 billion people gives an approximate origin of mankind at around 4-6000 years ago. If the origin of modern mankind from a common ancestor with primates was 2-500,000 years ago as evolution suggests, the current global population would exceed the number of atoms in the universe. Even using an origin of 25,000 years ago and using the lowest reproductive rate ever seen, the current global population would still exceed 140 billion people. The numbers don't add up well for evolution but do for a fairly recent creation such as is explained in the Biblical Genesis account and replenishment after a global Flood around 4400 years ago.

Mitochondrial "Eve" is also now thought to have lived around 6000 years ago.

We may share a large portion of our DNA with primates but the 2-6 percent difference still represents tens of millions of beneficial mutations which would have had to occur since we supposedly "split" when even a single one is quite rare...the vast majority of mutations are either harmful or neutral. The common areas of our DNA may simply be from a common design....not evolution. God's purpose in using similiar DNA for us may have been so that we may conduct experiments or tests on primates with regard to human diseases or capabilites rather than using human test subjects which are precious in God's eye's. Some of the first creatures in the US and Soviet space programs were primates. And for all our similarities, pig hearts are prevailingly used in human heart valve transplants rather than primates.

  5. No. There is no such thing as the primate race.

  6. We are all just physically smart apes.  There is no scientific evidence that there is anything else that separates us from other primates.  We are certainly closely related to them and we share a common ancestor with chimps from about 5 to 7 million years ago.

  7. I'm sorry but I just can't believe that we came from apes. Why are there still great apes & man living in this world & why didn't the remaining apes evolve too? There's more questions than answers. If the link between apes & humans is a missing one, then probably it never existed at all. There's just no real proof & where does God fit in to this theory? We evolved independently & not from each other.

  8. It's REALLY true.

But it's important to understand the timescales involve. they are VERY VERY long and our civilization isn't all THAT old.

So let's wind the clock back....

Consider that a little more than 400 years ago, there were no cars, no oil, no indoor heating (other than wood), no electricity, no understanding of chemistry or medicine, no mathematics beyond basic accounting, the Americas were still mostly "undiscovered" (by Europeans at least), and over 95% of everyone was still unable to read or write.

3000 years ago, and the major three civilizations, across the entire Earth were still in the basic areas of in Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, Central America and Papua and while some semi-permanent tribes throughout Eurasia, writing and cities were confined to these basic areas.

7000 years ago, and there were only a few basic areas of major human civilization across the entire Earth, in Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, Central America and Papua. There were no empires, no major roads.

12000 years ago, there were no domesticated animals, or grains. There were no cities, or towns or much of any permanent housing but some permanent settlements were beinging to discover how to cultivate grains. All other tribes were nomadic. There are estimated to have been only about 900,000 people on the WHOLE planet, and not one of them knew how to write in anything more advanced than pictogram like kindergartners do today.

Math - if it existed at all was used for counting and keeping simple records of days and similar types of things.

Religion - existed as fertility cults and worship of large geographic features or events like fire, lightning , wind, mountains or oceans.

20000 years ago, there were a few settlements , in very favorable areas around some rivers , there were no permanent cities or settlements that we can find ANYWHERE on the earth.

40000 years ago, and humans were not the only advanced hominid, there were three other types of apes spread across the planet. Neanderthals, Homo-Floriensis (Small Humans), and Homo-Australiapithicene (Giants) and Homo Sapiens.

78000 years ago - ALL PRIMATES - humans included were reduced to a population no smaller than 5000 individuals and no larger than 10000 individuals , due to a catastrophic explosion called the Toba Event.

100000 years ago, and our species, Homo-Sapiens was still largely confined to Eastern Africa.

Humans and Chimpanzee's shared a common ancestor about 6-7 million years ago.

A REALLY good set of books that covers this subject is by Dr. Jarred Diamond, of UCLA/Berkley, called

"Guns, Germs and Steel", "The Third Chimpanzee" and "Collapse"

Additionally, a very good and clear explanation of the genetics which backs up the paleontology pretty conclusively is called "The 7 Daughters of Eve" which shows how all the ethicities or "races" of humans are related to one another.

But one of the other people asking questions has some good questions themselves.

Why are there great apes and mankind. Because both animals are successful in their environment and neither they nor us have become extinct due to some environmental or self-inflicted action. We may as well ask, if white Americans mostly come from Europe, why are there still Europeans.

Apes did evolve, there are actually several sub-species of great apes,Orangutans, Gorillas, Bonobos, Chimpanzee's and Humans, but we are very much more closely related to Chimpanzees and Bonobos than either Orangutans or Gorillas , and about 15 years ago, they sequenced the human and chimpanzee genomes.

About 5 years ago they conducted a hyper-accurate genomic analysis and found more or less the answer to a very old question. What exactly was the difference between Chimpanzees and Humans, was there a provable link, aside from the archeological record.

As far as the "link" between Chimps and Humans, and _because+ this was a HUGELY important question (back in the day) scientists quite specifically went looking and found out exactly where the differences in between humans and chimps are.

The basic difference was an "error in transcription" or mistake in what became humans , where two strands of DNA to hooked up wrong.

The mutation fortunately didn't kill the apes that had the mutation, but it was one of a very small class of mutations that were beneficial and made us different than other Chimps. So to suggest there is no proof, is to deny the very stuff we're made out of and that makes us who we are.
