I slapped a kid, is it wrong ?

A bunch of 13 yr old brats were kicking a football against my car, so I ran out and confronted them. I asked them politely if they could stop. One of them ran up to me and started taunting me, insulting my wife and threatening violence… So I slapped the kid across the face, I mean I slapped him that hard he fell over. I feel so guilty but the “ bunny caught in headlights” look on his face was actually “pleasurable” at the time. Am I evil and wrong? I mean the parents obviously don’t care enough to discipline.

I have to say as a mother of 2 if my son ever talked to any one like that or behaved in such a way. id give him a slap of my own, and although i don't condone other people disciplining other peoples kids,i can see how you felt intimidated by them, and i don't think he will tell his parents i mean what is he gonna say exactly, "i was tormenting this man kicking a football against his car and i insulted his wife too," so he slapped me. .  .lol.

i can see how you feel guilty but kids nowadays need to learn to respect there elders, I'm 25 and id never ever talk to my elders like that when i was younger.

you should have confronted his parents...not the kid...u could have got arrested for assault!

You be surprised when you find yourself in court for assaulting a minor, no matter how much he taunted you.

Yes it is wrong and illegal, you should never hit a child! the child could tell his parents and they could easily take you to court.

If you get away with it I think you did the right thing - he will think twice before behaving like that again.  Unfortunately however your chances of getting into trouble are pretty high.  At one time I would have said that you were totally out of order but the kids now have no respect for anyone (including themselves).  They use aggression and intimidation themselves and its sadly the only language they understand.  A realy sad reflection on the society we have created with both extremes of over indulgence and/or a failure to discipline.

Though it was wrong. You could successfully plead provocation. I do think though that if the state had not taken away the parent's (and teacher's) right to discipline a child, such children would need less discipline outside.

You could not do a better thing for that child, I would like to tell you he

will give you all the RESPECT in the world as of that slapped is soaked in so you will have no more problem with that one any more so do not

worry about him.

But why are you feeling guilty?  You are about to get me upset with you, why are you feeling guilty?  Come on Brother don't be crazy come on now, you are keeping that Boy out of person because you are doing what his Father should have been doing so you have told him that you and him is 50 but your 50 have more zeros in it so you are bigger than him so you should be cool & do not feel any guilty OK?
