I have memory probs and I left the cage open, the hammy crawled out(she is suppose to be sleep, that's way I got surprised). When I stepped down (I also have bad eye sight) I didn't see her, she was in the EXACT spot when I stepped down. :(((. How do I get over her death??? I'm just so sad. I have, well had two Syrians hamsters, the blond one died my mom told me to show her to the other, should I? Would the hamster get confused where the other one is at??? what should I do?? I feel like killing myself now.

  1. im sorry for what happend..

if i were you i would get over it and remember the good times...

and not rember what happend to the hammy

or if you want you can get a new one that looks like it..

    :[

  2. NO NO, DON'T KILL YOURSELF!!!! i felt the same way after I litterally accidentally butchered a mouse. it was in the shed @ wandered up into the tractor. i had happened to choose that day to cut grass..... :(. its ok. it was a pure accident, they do happen. i don't think that they should have been living in the same cage though. oh well, if they were, i would show the other one too make sure it isn't wandering what happened to it.

    **E**

Whatever you do, don't put another one in the cage. im thinking that you got them at the same time and they were from the same tank. syrians don't like to share there cages and will fight for dominance until one is dead. don't put another in the cage PLEASE unless you want to have the same feeling again.

  3. Aww! That is sad! my guinea pig died recentlt... but I didn't step on her.. Anyways, the hamster is in a better place and doesn't have to worry about not having enough water, not being warm, or constantly being woke up during the day. I cried and cried, but it put her out of her misery. Her eye had turned green and mushy and my dad was talking about poking it with a needle and i couldn't look at o's for a while... Anyways...

The other hamster, I don't think it would be into the fact that it's dead companion is hanging out with im. Or her. you could try, just think what you would do if you were a dumber and your mate just got squashed. i'm sorry!

  4. you shouldn't put the dead syrian with the other one. it might end up trying to eat it. you should never try to keep two syrians together longer than two months.

to the others saying 'dont kill yourself!' even i know that it's just a figure of speech!

  5. It was a true accident, you shouldn't feel bad, you didn't mean to and I'm sure she forgives you.

If you want to you can show her to the other, in my experience they do seem to wonder where they went but soon get over it.

I'm sorry about her death, they're definitely not just pets, they're friends. :)

  6. Im sorry to say that i dont belive u.

why didnt the other one get out too?

whats so hard to believe is that you expect me to believe you stood on your hamster, cos its not like you would have felt it underfoot?? and that your SO UPSET you want to kill yourself, so you come on here?! to ask how to get over it, and question what your mum said about showing the other one? YEAH right, shame people are wasting their emotions on a illegitimate question.

  7. Firstly, this isn't worth killing yourself over. However guilty you feel.

Secondly, please don't keep two Syrians together again. They aren't social animals. They like their own space.

I know you must feel awful. I actually still dream about a Guinea Pig death from about 8 years ago that I still feel massively guilty about. I don't even know if it was my fault, but it's a difficult thing to deal with a death and particularly so if you feel at fault. I don't really know what to say in this instance, but I do feel your pain.

I understand your problems with memory, do you think there is a way that you can remember to shut the door next time? Perhaps you could get yourself into a new pattern with the cage.

  8. I want to address your last comment first: Nothing is worth killing yourself for..I understand your pain at losing a pet. I have lost some pets that I was very close to as well, but please don't harm yourself. If you need to talk to someone you can email me or go to someone close to you and talk to them. You need to speak about your feelings with someone and not keep them inside.

Second issue: This was an accident, it was not your fault. You will be sad for a little while after this, that is normal.

  9. give your other hamster away. you obliviously do not need hamsters if you  have these problems and that leads to hamster deaths.

i hate people like you, who dont need to have a hamster, and ends up killing them.

  10. Aww im really sorry about your hamster! :( Thats so sad. But no i wouldnt show the other one the hammy that died. Maybe you can buy another that looks just like it so that it reminds you of the one that died. Im not saying it will replace that poor hammy, but it will give the other hammy another companion. I was sad when my hamster died. My dog killed it :\ Its okay dont beat your self up about it too much!! Accidents happen! Again im really sorry :(

    hope i help! :)

  11. its not ur fault but if u cant c very well or have not very good memory then u shouldnt have 1 not bein rude dont feel guilty though it happens mabe get another 1 to help the pain or try do some memory games to inprove ur memory and get some glasses or lenses if u have none then try again wen inproved but DONT FEEL GUILTY ITS NOT UR FAULT

  12. well first of all hamsters dont sleep at night they sleep during the day and seccond you could try putting them together but do it slowly like put a mesh wall in the middle of the cage and put one on one side and the other on the other side so they get use to eachother other wise they will probly start attacking oneanother because one will think "hey this is my territory" and want the other guy out.
