I snipped my eyelashes off! Will they grow back shorter?

Question

I was kinda getting tired of having tangled eyelashes, so I decided to snip off the ends of em. They were about 1 cm long, and i snipped off about .5 cm of em. so theyre pretty short now. I don't really care as I've stopped with makeup and vanities, but my question is:

I know that they obviously will grow back, but I am reading comments saying that my eyelashes will grow back, but not to the same length as they were before? Is this true, and if so, how is it possible?

first off....your eyelashes DONT grow back. why do you think there are so many people with no lashes or very short ones..... the thing is is where they grow is a very sensitive area, and thats the only lashes you have EVER. if you cut them they dont grow anymore. if you pull them out there is a slim chance they mite come back in, but they never continue to grow....sorry. your only chance of having lashes is to pull them out all together and wait for them to grow back, or just wear fake lashes from now on......lashes are kinda like teeth....you only get one set.....

I've never personally cut my eyelashes, but they are just like any other hair. they'll grow back just the same, it'll just take time as i'm not sure of the growth rate of them. Just be careful not to cut too much off, because we have eyelashes for a reason - to help keep dust particles and numerous other particles out of our eyes!

no, they'll grow back the same. if your worried, just pluck out the shorter ones.

They should be about the same, but I doubt they'd be longer than they were before.

It depends really.

When my mum was little she heard that cutting your eyelashes would make them grow back even longer, but hers never grew back.

I don't think it will be the same case with you though.

no. It's just hair and by cutting it nothing happened, you didn't destroy or hurt anything other than hair. Your body can't feel hair and can't respond to anything done to them unless it includes the hair root.

i think they will grow back to normal, if not longer. Cuz when i was small, one of my eyes got too close to fire and then we had to cut off a bit so that i wouldnt have to smell this disgusting burnt smell and it grew out longer than the other eye's eyelashes. But Im not sure whether it works for kids over 4.

And dont worry. I mean, even if they stay short, you can always use mascara!

They really shouldn't grow back shorter. I don't think they'll grow back quickly, but most likely not shorter.

it takes a few months for your eyelashes to grow back but i wouldnt cut them anymore! you could get an infection of the eye that way

i should imagine they should grow back, dont think they would get  shorter.   your  a brave 1 i would never snip mine off  lol
