  1. Well, I'm homesick too. I've been in Singapore for a month to attend a university here and my family is back in Burma. I try to concentrate on studying and talk to them with gtalk or sometimes with phone. I'm getting better now.

  2. Keep as busy as possible! If you feel homesick tell someone and ask them to help keep you busy! Do NOT call home and whine! That will just make things worse. It sounds like a short trip, just relax, have fun and enjoy!

  3. You won't be gone long enough to worry about it. Enjoy yourself!

  4. Homesickness occurs to some degree in nearly everyone leaving familiar surroundings and entering a new environment.

Do something fun, like playing with friends.

Do something to feel closer to home, like writing a letter home.

Go see someone who can talk with you to help you feel better.

Look at the bright side, such as activities and friends in the new setting.

Think that the time away is short.

    Don't dwell on home.

Think about what a loved one would say to make you feel better.

What about calling/ emailing/ texting home?

During short separations, old-fashioned letters may be the best way to maintain contact with home. Writing letters tends to be less emotional and requires more personal reflection than calling home.

  5. Take a pillowcase from home. The design on the fabric will make you feel good at night.
