I am not looking for abuse here. I am a very fat 620 pound man who takes the bus to and from work. In the evening, the bus is usually crowded and if no one gives up a bench, the bus driver always nicely suggests that I can use the handicap seating. That always gets me stares and jokes from some passengers which I don't mind. I know my size will always make some people make fun of me. I just want to make sure it is OK to use the seats. I have given it up for a truly hanicapped person and luckily a bench opened at the same time. I cannot fit in the row seats anymore. I just started taking the bus due to a job change and it is easier for me than driving and parking - less costly. Thanks for your thoughts.

  1. WOW! people can be so cruel. If you are to fat in your own mind then perhaps you should slowly start by changing your personal habits. You are obviously an environmentally conscious person and that is awesome. I don't think it is wrong for you to use the handicap bench especially since you give it up for truly handicapped individuals God Bless You.

  2. No.

  3. Yes

  4. Sure it's okay. I don't think anyone really judges you and if they do, then they're just trying to make themselves look better. As long as you give it up for a truly handicapped person, then I'm sure it's okay

  5. i am speaking with considerable thinking instead of taking the bus to work why dont you just wake up extra early and walk to work you are 620 ibs. you could probably lose some weight and how tall are you and how old are you and yes it is ok to sit in the handicap seats

  6. I think that you are entitled to use the handicapped seating as you clearly have some trouble maneuvering through the rest of the bus.  I think it is kind of you to give up the seat if you see someone who needs it more, and I hope that others would do the same.

  7. no that no ok beging that over weigt will lead to many health problem the bus is the least of yourworrys

  8. Please do not take offense to this but 620 lbs is morbidly obese. You should be working with a doctor on establishing a diet and health plan to get you back to normal again.

A good start may be to consider walking a portion of the way to work instead of taking the bus. Each day you could walk a bit further and then catch the bus the rest of the way. Then eventually you will slowly start to lose the weight and build you metabolism.

  9. if you give up the seat for someone that is handicap then it isnt a problem.  weighing 620lbs is also a handicap because otherwise you would be able to fit in a normal size seat.

i know this isnt what you asked but try to lose some weight for your own health.  try getting off the bus one stop early so you will be forced to walk at least twice a day.  a little exercise goes a long way.

  10. No offense Jerry,,,but at 620lbs..you ARE handicapped yourself!!! I wouldn't want you squishing in next to me...sit in what is comfortable!!

  11. Yes its ok. You are obese (no offense) and if you cant fit in the other seats then ou really have no choice.

  12. In a way your weight is a kind of handicap, but I do

think it's nice that you will give up your seat for a truly handicapped person.  If you're still working, you might be able to have gastric bypass surgery.

  13. Yes, especially if the driver has no problem with it.  When you think about it, it is a handicap.

  14. You can sit there unless there is a handicapped person n the bus.

    P.S.lose weight.

  15. at your weight I believe it is fine, it is a handicap.  People get handicap parking placards for weight issues...seating on the bus is no different...If you can't fit in the other seats normally then there is nothing wrong with you using the handicap seating...and the bus driver suggested it as well so it's fine...it may be hard but ignore the rude remarks and stares.

  16. I think it's fine as long as you are willing to give it up for someone who is truly handicapped.

  17. I think it's alright for you to use a handicapped seat, as long as you give it up to a real handicapped person, if one comes along. It sure is better than the average sized people who use the handicapped seats just because they don't want to walk to the empty seats.

  18. as long as no real handicapped person needs it, then it is perfectly fine.

    heres a small story

My sister and i went to the movies over the summer at midnight for the first every showing of harry potter 5. It was jammed packed, and no seats around that had two spots, and there was a row of handicapped, and we asked to sit there and they let us, tho we arent handicapped. and then other people took the other handicapped seats until they were filled, but then a realy handicapped person came and somebody had to move. But yes it is perfectly fine.

I like how you like your weight and whatnot, and how you dont care what others think. I too, am on the heavier side, and i admire you.

  19. No..............(srry) but it is NOT healthy 4 u to be like that and if thier r no seats or room then u have 2 stand and yea it ls like being handycap

  20. I think that is quite acceptable. Your size is in fact a handicap, so ignore the stares. They would probably do the same if say an amputee got on the bus.

  21. Yes its fine because fat is your handicap.  But if a person who is more handicapped then you comes then get up.

  22. i think you should lose weight

    its unhealthy!

and ya i think if your 620 pounds, its like being handicapped in so many ways.. so they should let you

no offense lol, just sayin the truth

  23. heres the deal, u are handicapped but u made urself that way. thats why ppl got a problem w/ u and not w/ other handicapped ppl. u also have the choice of losing the weight and ur handicap will be gone but u pick to keep eating too much instead and that upsets ppl. they dont understand why someone would choose to handicap themselves and honestly neither do i.

  24. Hey whatever works for you.As long as your comfortable hon then it's o.k.

  25. I think it's totally ok for you to use the handicap seat. I think it's even better that you do give it up if someone more in need needs it. I would defenitly say it's ok.

  26. dude 620 is not healthy and we dont want to lose you Jerry.

620 is a serious health risk. You need to talk to a doctor about a diet plan and exercise.

there is a website called www.shapefit.com it can help you lose weight. They have a newsletter you can sign up for that gives you tips. It has helped me get into shape and I dont know if you are married but Jerry women love guys that are in shape. I get a lot more numbers from girls.

and yes I am a person not some spam thing.

Good luck man you can do it

  27. Are you aware of the fact that being morbidly obese, just 100 pounds over the weight that doctor's charts prefer you to be, MAKES you disabled? So, yes, it is right for you to use the disabled seats. This is not meant as criticism, it is meant to explain that you are doing the correct thing.

  28. I don't see a problem in it, any one with half a brain would see your predicament. And as you say you give it up if need be so to me it's fine :)

  29. Of course it's ok.

But just remember that it's not healthy to be that heavy and for your own sake you should see a nutritionist.

  30. First of all, there is no excuse for others' behavior in that situation. No need at all to attempt to scoff or mock you, and I apologize for that.

Secondly, yes it is ok. The signs say for elderly or handicapped/disabled, but I ride the bus all the time so I know you're in the clear. I suppose, like you said, if someone got on that was technically handicapped, you might be expected to move.
