I speak Spanish but yet I'm so confused on this saying "cada tercer dia" or "cada tres dias"...?

the thing is I have to take medication that my god-mother gave to me, and I really thought she said every 3 days, but now my mom is questioning me, and I'm like "whats the difference?" if its cada tres dias, or cada tercer dia? Can someone please break it down for me? I feel so dumb that I can't figure it out. If I took the medication on Monday when do I have to take it again? Tomorrow if its cada tres dias? What if its cada tercer dia? Wouldn't it be the same as tomorrow?

You need to take your medication every 3 days period.

Cada semana/cada ocho días--every week

Cada quincena (15 days)--every two weeks.

Spanish speakers count differently. An extra day gets added, so every other day becomes every three days in Spanish. Every week becomes every eight days, and so on. You just have to realize it and get used to it.

If you took it Monday, the second dose in on Wednesday. Monday is day #1.

"cada tercer día" is basically every other day.  Day #1 is today, Day #2 is tomorrow, and day #3 is the day after tomorrow.  You are skipping one day without medication.  You are taking it EVERY OTHER DAY.

Yah, "cada tres días" is like on Thursday I think but "cada tercer día" would be like monday was day 1, tuesday day 2 and wednesday day 3. So it's like every third day, so it would be today! So I think it does matter.
