I live in the US.  We have an old car that we insure for liability only.  It is $15/month

My car insurance is 300 Euros per year; my health insurance is 20 Euros per month. Both are very good and cover just about anything.

American insurance rates are just absurd, it's completely different in Europe. And health insurance is optional, because we have free universal healthcare.

Twenty dollars a month for insurance sounds more like 10-year level term life insurance. There are quite a few companies that offer life insurance for about that amount.
