  1. No rush. Your ankle is really your career.

I stayed out for four months after I sprained my ankle (I heard a huge "crack" before I fell to the floor), and my foot became dark purple in several hours even when I kept it on ice.

I am now wearing Active Ankle T2 to support my ankles. They are not so heavy compared to other ankle support products, and they gave me lots more confidence, especially when I go up for blocking.

  2. i think you should just let it heal before u do anything that might hurt it again. good luck :]

  3. I sprained my ankle and i'm out for 2 months, i'm missing the whole season so you are lucky.  Elevate your leg and ice it 20 min like every 3hrs, if possible, and take pain killers (they actually help.

  4. I used to coach high school girls' basketball and this was my "miracle" treatment that ALWAYS got girls up and playing quicker than anything:

Put your entire foot and ankle - up to about mid-calf - into a bucket of ice water. I know it's cold, but do it! ;-)  Keep it in there for 15 minutes.

Then, wrap your ankle in a heating pad, with the heat on low. Keep it there for 15 minutes.

Go back to the ice water bucket and put your foot/ankle back in for 15 minutes.

Now, back to the heating pad for 15 minutes.

Keep this rotation up for as long as you can. I had a girl hauling around a bucket of ice water all day at school once. LOL.

Always remember, though, when you decide to stop for the day, or for awhile, ALWAYS do the ice as your last treatment.

    Good luck!!

  5. If it's a serious sprain you will want to see a physical therapist.

One thing that you can do is to trace the alphabet with your toes or just do circles.  The idea is that you are taking your ankle thru a full range of motion.

Other than that find a workout to keep your body in shape.  Maybe the exercise bike or swimming that won't put too much stress on your ankle.

  6. Depending on how much weight you can put on it there are a few ankle exercises that you can do to help the rehabilitation process.  Firstly, just ice it regularly and do rotation exercises, writing the alphabet with your toe is a good one.  If you can walk on it, try standing on one foot (the sprained one) for about 30 seconds.  It helps rebuild the torn tissue from the sprain.  If there is still pain when you put weight on it, DON'T DO THIS!!!  Once you can do that, try doing it with your eyes closed, then try it on an uneven surface, then an uneven surface with your eyes closed.  If you're afraid of reinjury, you can tape it or get an ankle brace to wear.

  7. Ok all day you need to walk on that ankle(CAREFULLY)dont reinjure yourself and it should get the feel back into it

    No gurantess

    BE SAFE!

  8. Physical therapy exercises...I had a mojor injury and spent the summer recooperating.  take a towel and wrap it around the ball of your foot, holdign it on each side.

Give the towel tnesion and flex your foot pushing it against the towel...this will help strenghten your ankle without adding  unduie pressure  or weight on it.  take it easy, cause returning too soon can cause long term injury to your ankle.  your coach knows this and wants the best for you so take it easy and ease yourself back into the game.

  9. Well first of all I am sorry that you hurt your ankle.

To get it strong again, while your team plays just walk around at your own pace. Don't do any intense runs or stretches, that will just make your ankle worse. But the main thing here is time.

Also while you can't play because of your ankle, why not practice your hits, spikes, and maybe serves! Here are some good excersizes:

---Get a volleyball and stand infront of a wall. Hit the volleyball hard on the ground towards the wall so then it hits the wall and comes back to you, then hit it again and repeat and hit it as many times as you can.

    ---Bump against the wall!

---Get two people and a volleyball. have them stand facing each other with one fist in the air. Put the volleyball inbetween their fists so it is high enough for you to jump spike it. Then (if you can) jump and hit it hard down. Repeat.

    Good luck!

    Best of wishes!

  10. hey, i play football and have had many sprained ankles, and they do last for a while. i sprained mine my freshman year, and i can still feel it and im a junior now. the best thing is to go to physical therapy, they will help get strength in your ankle. i never did, and thats why it still hurts, and it healed wrong... you could also buy an aircast for support for your ankle, they sell them at walmart and stuff. they help a lot. hope that helps ya out.
