I sprained my foot back in May and it still hurts...?

This past May my heel got fixed on the edge of a side walk as I was getting on it. Unfortunately, when I tried to get both of my feet on the side walk, I tripped and sprained my foot. When I sprained it, I got a big purple bump and I could not even walk. I went home and rested my foot. I put an ice pack on it. By the second day, the bump got smaller and lighter, but it still hurt a bit. By the third week, I thought that it had healed. I didn’t feel any pain. But then I would start to get occasional pain and the bump (inflammation) keeps on coming and going. What can I do to completely heal my foot?

  1. Soak your foot each morning in a pan of warm water with 1 cup of Epsom salts to each 2 gal of water for 30 minutes, adding hot water to keep it warm. An hour would be even better.

And yes, take it easy. We are NOT Borg!

  2. The ligaments probably started to heal but then became injured again because you erroneously thought it had healed completely and started being excessively active.

Just rest it again and place as little stress on it as possible for at least another month or two. A bad sprain can take months to heal.
