I've done this with the last 5 or so books I have read... I just can't seem to have the motivation to keep reading it, even if I know that I'll enjoy the book! Any suggestions?

  1. I'd suggest starting a book when you have, lets say, all the day for it. When you have a goal [read this book all day long], I'm sure you will move on further than the first chapter.

The main problem, in my opinion, is not to enjoy the story, but enjoy reading itself. So try to create a nice atmosphere, make a cup of tea, move away from tv and computer, curl in a nice warm ball in your bed or on a pillow or go outside and enjoy the day of reading.

  2. Concentrate on the book, and you'll love it.

If that doesn't work, you can always try another book.

Don't worry, you'll never run out of books!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. you aint in the right frame of mind for that book at that time on that night.

happened to me several times with stephen king and i LOVE his books.

always go back to them in the end.

dont tell me this has happened to you while reading the harry potter books?............

  4. Unless you have to read the book for school or something, don't even worry about it.

Put the books aside. One day, you're going to be in the mood for a good read, and now you have five to pick from!

Now go do something else you enjoy.  : )

  5. Reading in itself, as an activity, is naturally unpleasant to the eye & brain. But if you develop a keen curiosity, then you become spurred on to read, to learn things. Then reading informs you & you start to really like it. Try reading, 'Catcher In the Rye,' by J.D. Salinger. Many people can personally relate to the writing style of it & the way the writer thinks. Many can identify with the thinking process of the writer & get hooked on it. Then you may go on to read other books. Also, if you see a movie you love & find out its based on a book, the book will probably have more in it, & that may peak your curiosity to go out, find it & read it.
