  1. i wouldnt say anything! let them pay you what they feel is reasonable. Maybe they have kids that arent well disciplined...so they want to offer a little more. Or if you really feel bad about it, then maybe you could try and clean a little while you are there.

  2. Where are you?  Can you come babysit here?

Seriously, we have to pay $25 an hour for 2 kids.

  3. It's not too much for 3 kids.

  4. I don't know where you live or how old you are, but in my part of the country $10/hr would be a serious bargain for three kids unless you're a middle-schooler.

Prices do vary by community, by region, and by the age and experience of the babysitter.  But I pay $16/hr for adults or grad students to babysit my four kids, and my friends tell me that that's actually underpaying for where I live and I'm lucky to get someone to do it.

Just do a good job and it will be worth it to them!

  5. I don't think that is to much.  Your saving the parents from having to drag the children out of the house.  Just take good care of them, and if you want to try cleaning up a little after the kids have played.  After a few weeks you will probably think that it isn't enough. lol. Just be responsible with them.

  6. That's not too much, I'd say that's about right. It's not like your working a ten hour day. When it comes down to it that's what they feel is a valid amount of money to watch their kids.

  7. That's not too much.  Their kids are priceless to them and will require your full attention and for you to always make good decisions while they are under your care.

  8. I don't think its too much.  I see babysitters in this area, Chicago, that charge upward close to $20 an hour.  However, think about this.... you are actually saving the them money because a professional daycare typically cost that much per kid!

  9. thats not too much I get paid 12.60 for a set of twins. I thinks thats just the right amout how old are the kids? Weather you are just starting or not that's like 3.33 per child so that is not too much for you sweetie thats just right.  The earlier you start out making money you will not want to work for anything less so just get used to it and save 30% of everything you make you never know the things you may need.

  10. Ha! you just started today and you think it's too much! Wait a few days and you'll feel like you need a raise! $10hr is what it is worth to the parents to have a serious, reliable person caring for their children. Earn it! Keep the house neat, the kids safe, fed and cared for.

  11. Just take it and be grateful, they are obviously happy enough to be paying you that amount so don't worry about it!  You ARE doing them a favour so.....

  12. That is not too much, that is a very average price.  Babysitting is hard work, and three kids can be really difficult.

Also, the parents are assuming that you will be actively involved with the children, that you will be playing games with them instead of just ignoring them while you watch TV or whatever.

The parents wouldn't offer more than they are able and willing to pay.  So take the money and put it in your savings.  If you still feel bad, give the extra amount to charity.

  13. 10.00 an hour is not to much for 3 kid's.  Imagine working one on one you should get 5.15 per kid

  14. That's not too much.  When I was your age, the going rate was $5 per kid per hour.  That was 14 years ago.  If anything, they're probably thinking they've suckered you into it.  :)

  15. It's not around here

My niece makes 12 dollar an hour

10 dollars, depending on where you live could be right

You can always tell her 8 or 9 dollar would be enough

  16. 10 is a good amount. They are not paying to much. You are probably saving them money.

  17. It depends on if it's an all day job, they want to make it worth your while so you don't quit on them. You must be a great sitter. If you think it's to much, then do extras around their house like dishes, dusting, etc.

  18. Its not too much trust me you will earn it

  19. Take it. If that's what they're willing to do and not what you've asked don't feel bad about it. Usually 3/hour/kid is normal and you're receiving 1 dollar more. It's not that much.

  20. $10 for 3 kids is NOT considered 'too much'. Remember, you're watching _3_ children, not just one or two. Give it a try at $10 before you decide that it's too much.

If, by the end of the night, when you get paid, you still think it's too much, just tell them. Say something like, "Oh, I can't accept this much. But, I'll take *whatever* amount."

  21. Actually that is pretty good for 3 kids.

  22. As a Mom of two it really isn't. I would just be glad they are paying you well, and make sure you take as good of care of their children, as yhey are taking care of you.

  23. That's definetely not too much! I get paid $8/hour for one kid, and while that is a genorous amount I definetely don't think that what you are getting is too much.

  24. That seems reasonable to me. If you are offered that much money, by all means take it! Don't give any of it back, you will have earned every penny and you will need that money soon enough.

  25. As a mom who pays her baby sitter $10 an hour, I think 10 is fine for three children. You shouldn't feel bad if shes willing to pay you that much.

If you really honestly and truly think that that is too much, when she pays you, simply give her a little back.

  26. if they don't lower their offer I'd sneak stuff in the house like go out and buy the same brand of milk thats in their fridge with some of the extra money.

  27. that isnt to much

  28. it sounds like maybe a dollar or two to much but who cares? if they want to give it to you take it. Also its not like a job where each year you will get a raise. I used to babysit about 5 years ago for 2 kids and i got $5 an hour (I was was 13)... but 3 years later and 1 kid later I was still getting that pay. So be thankful now

  29. wow.....hopefully by the end of the year they won't ask U for your SSS# for them to file taxes for their CHILD CARE deductable.

cz it will show that your still under age to work....lol

  30. thats not too much, cause its usually about $5 for one kid, so i think its pretty good :)

  31. $10.00 per hour for 3 kids is not too much. Don't shortchange yourself.
