I started doing calve raises. But my calves got got more huge! HELP!?

please help me get my calves more toned and thin.

  1. Are you using weights?  It sounds like you are doing high weight and few reps to have achieved huge calves.  If this is the problem, try using no weight when doing the calf raises, and doing 3 sets of 40 every 3 days.  If this is still too much, you can use a seated calf raise machine to lower the weight even more.


  2. toned has to do with diet, make sure your caloric intake is less than how much you expend everyday and you will start losing the fat and be more toned

  3. for toning, you were supposed to use less weights and do more reps.

  4. Calf exercises build muscle.  The only way to make your calves thinner is to lose weight overall, and you may not need to do that.  Often the size of your calves is much more based on genetics than anything else.  "Toned" and "thin" are not generally synonymous.

  5. Did you overwork yourself? Your calves are probably swollen.

  6. calf raises will do it, but you have to do more lower intensity to build more muscle.

    but if you want to build strength do less sets but at higher weights.

    To build muscle:

    5 set of 10 raises

    to increase strength:

    3 sets of 12 raises with weights in your hand

  7. Don't work them out more than once or twice a week and then do high reps and a low or no weight. I'd do about 3 sets of 20-25 reps or however many you can do.
