  1. i am in the same situation as you

i run on a trail that many people use and one day a bike passed me so i focused on that person and tried to catch up

two days ago there was an old guy that it felt like he was following so i just pretended he was chasing me and i ran twice as hard

one time i followed a rabbit (there are so many here)

    and rabbits are fast

i know these are weird but they worked for me

don't stop running run as far as you can

  2. Think about how if you train during the summer, you'll crush the competition come race season!

  3. run a 5k race somewhere near your town, or other races that are slightly longer (ex: 4 or 5 mile races) and do those once every 2 or 3 weeks, it keeps you pretty motivated.

  4. whenever you get tired and want to stop running, imagine your competition running past you.

  5. Change up your routine a little. Go running at a different time of day, go running with some friends, if you have a dog, go running with your dog. Go to a local park to run. If your workout says run 4 miles than do 4 miles on a trail. On occasion (no more than once a week) do a workout on a treadmill that way you can watch tv. Listen to music while you run. Run to a nearby ice cream shop(not all the time, just as a treat every now and again)

Come up with some different ideas on your own. I used to run with the guys team and we used to run in a huge pack and we would throw footballs around while we were running. We would run by time and if we past a road we wanted to run down we would run there. We never picked our route before we went out we just ran where ever we wanted to.

    Good luck

  6. My training motivation was the fear of failure.

  7. i had the same problem as you. what i did is i just looked at the reasons why i wanted to become a better runner and i just visualized impressing my coaches and becoming the best. if you love the sport then the motivation should be within you. you just have to try to dig it out of you. my coaches always told me that i couldnt be fastest on the team and that i would never reach a better time. so when i was training i just focused on proving them wrong and that was my motivational tool. try to find soemthing that works for you.
