I have irregular periods, so I started the pill as soon as I got them and did not wait till my next period, as that could be months off as I only have three a year.

So I was wondering would I be able to have s*x now, having done that?

I has been on the pill for 12 days now. am I safe to have s*x with out a condom?

(I am 22 and still a virgin I have met that special someone and he is also a virgin too)

Thanks

  1. They usually recommend you start taking them after your period, but since you started them right away that is okay, just keep taking them regularly. They should protect you from pregnancy after 7 days but sometimes they say wait 14 days to be safe or use a condom as a back up. So after 12 days you should be all set to go. Remember it takes about 3 months before your body adjusts to being on the pill so if your periods are messed up or weird or if you have other side effects dont worry.

  2. technically, i think you can have s*x after one full week on the pill.  but i would wait one full month.

why would you not be using condoms?  MANY women get pregnant on the pill, and it is always better to use condoms.  even if you are virgins:  this will get you set up in the right habits.

you should also know that many people who are "virgins" have had oral s*x, touching, rubbing, etc.  any kind of genital contact poses an HPV risk, so you should always use a condom!

  3. After 7 days of taking it without fail, your good to go!

A lot of people will tell you that you have to wait a month but this is not at all necessary.

I asked my doctor and a nurse at my local Health Centre/Family Planning Centre how long I would have to take the pill before I was covered and the both told me 7 days. For the same reason, if you miss a pill at any time, you should use condoms for the next 7 days.

http://www.fpa.org.uk/information/leafle... - look at How do I start the first pack of pills?

If you start taking it the 1st or 5th day of your period, you are covered immediately, but at any other time, it is 7 days.

  4. didnt the doctor tell you what to do? you are suppose to take them the sunday after you start your period. and you should use a condom during the first month or so.

  5. By 12 days your cover should be full. By the way you have contraceptive  protection during your pill free days as well. The pill of course gives no STI cover.

  6. What did your doctor say to do?

Well, you should have okay'd it with the doctor.

You'll be fine, but you should use protection for at least a few weeks, even then you are only 99 per cent effective.  Nothing is 100 per cent effective except for abstinence.
